Wembley was decked out in its finest this weekend. On Saturday, Manchester City beat Southampton to reach their fourth consecutive FA Cup final. Guardiola made numerous changes to his line-up, and his side’s performance suffered as a result. So much so that the half-time whistle blew with the score goalless.

After the break, the Sky Blues looked uncomfortable, and Southampton took the lead with a quarter of an hour to go. The Championship side were dreaming of an upset, but Docu equalised almost immediately, and just as it looked as though the match was heading for extra time, a stunning strike from Nico González from outside the box secured victory for Manchester City.

Sunday saw Chelsea and Leeds United take to the field. The match was a tight affair with few clear-cut chances, and a solitary first-half header from Enzo Fernández secured victory for the ‘Blues’. Calum McFarlane’s debut as manager until the end of the season could not have gone better. He will now be fighting for a title and a place in the Europa League.

Tottenham’s first win under Roberto De Zerbi

Third time lucky. In Roberto De Zerbi’s third match in charge of Tottenham, the ‘Spurs’ secured a win. It was a hard-fought victory, as the goal came in the dying minutes of their visit to bottom-of-the-table and already-relegated Wolves. These three points keep Tottenham’s hopes alive, as West Ham’s last-gasp win over Everton keeps them in the relegation zone.

Elsewhere on the day, Liverpool and Manchester United secured victories to virtually guarantee their places in the Champions League. Nottingham Forest thrashed Sunderland away to remain five points clear of the relegation zone, whilst Fulham edged out Aston Villa to stay in the hunt for European places.

Finally, Arsenal’s narrow victory over Newcastle saw them return to the top of the Premier League table, pending the outcome of Manchester City’s postponed match against Crystal Palace. Mikel Arteta’s side struggled, but Eze’s stunning goal in the opening minutes of the match was enough to secure three points and end their run of poor form.
