Forward Rayan Rocha, just 19 years old, was officially announced as AFC Bournemouth's new signing on Tuesday. Revealed by Vasco da Gama, the player makes a significant career leap by signing a contract until June 2031, a deal valid for five and a half years.

The transfer was finalised for 35 million euros, making it the second-largest signing in the English club's history.

Financial details of the deal

The total value of the operation is divided into 28.5 million euros fixed and 6.5 million euros in performance-related bonuses.

According to Brazilian newspaper 'GE', to ensure immediate payment, Vasco da Gama opted to involve a financial institution, which will advance the funds to the Rio de Janeiro club. AFC Bournemouth, in turn, will make payments in instalments over three years. No future sell-on clause was included in the agreement.

Due to the division of economic rights between the player, his family, and agents, Vasco da Gama will receive approximately 24 million euros.

In his presentation video, Rayan Rocha made sure to highlight his origins:

"Vasco da Gama is where I was born and developed as a player. Brazil represents talent, emotion, energy, and passion. Now I take that joy with me to Europe. Let's make history together", he recalled.

The announcement had a relaxed atmosphere, with AFC Bournemouth opting for an aesthetic inspired by Brazilian Carnival to present the club's new player.

Journey at Vasco

Developed in the youth ranks of Sao Januario, Rayan Rocha debuted for the senior team in 2023 and quickly established himself. In 2025, he had his best season: 20 goals in 57 matches.

With a starring role in the campaign to the Copa do Brasil final last year, he attracted the attention of several European clubs.

Tiago Pinto, AFC Bournemouth's President of Football Operations, highlighted the player's maturity:

"Rayan Rocha is an athlete we have been monitoring for a long time. He shows a consistency and maturity rare for his age. We strongly believe in his potential and are confident that this is the ideal environment for his development", he praised.

Squad and market impact

With an investment of 35 million euros, Rayan Rocha becomes the second most expensive signing in AFC Bournemouth's history, only surpassed by Evanilson, who was acquired from Porto for 37 million euros in 2024.

The Brazilian arrives to fill the void left by Semenyo, who transferred to Manchester City, reinforcing a squad that, under the command of Andoni Iraola, has also been excelling off the pitch with major sales.
