At Cruzeiro, he played 42 matches but suffered from injuries and struggled to maintain a consistent run in the first team, which motivated his move to Santos FC in search of more opportunities to showcase his football. The Argentine stated that he intends to give his all to help Santos in the final stretch of the season and establish himself as an important player in the team.

Received with high expectations by the Santos board, who are betting on the player's potential to strengthen the attacking sector, Lautaro Diaz is already cleared to make his debut in the remainder of the Brasileirao (Brazilian League).
