Tottenham Hotspur recovered from a two-goal deficit to snatch a draw at the Amex Stadium against Brighton & Hove Albion (2-2) after a busy week that saw them beat Villarreal on their Champions League debut.

Thomas Frank's side, who found themselves 2-0 down after half an hour following goals from Yankuba Minteh and Yasin Ayari, secured a point that keeps them in touch with the league leaders thanks to Richarlison and a Jan Van Hecke own goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion established their lead with a long ball after just eight minutes, which Minteh controlled, rounded the goalkeeper, and slotted into an empty net, followed by a long-range strike from Yasin Ayari that Guglielmo Vicario really should have saved.

Lucas Bergvall gifted possession in the final third, and the Swede unleashed a dipping shot that completely deceived the Argentine 'keeper.

The key to Tottenham's comeback was Richarlison's goal just before half-time. The Brazilian controlled a Richarlison shot in the six-yard box and, while falling, managed a finish that Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen couldn't keep out.

In the second half, after Brighton & Hove Albion passed up several chances, Tottenham equalised in another fortunate move when Kudus' cross was turned into his own net by Jan Van Hecke as he attempted to clear.

The Spurs, whose pursuit of Liverpool is beginning to falter after dropping points in two of their last three matches, sit second with 10 points, while Brighton & Hove Albion are thirteenth with 5 points.
